Happy Monday!

It’s so good to be back!

I guess techically i’m not really back because i’m still on the couch. X-ray’s yesterday still showed spots on my lungs so i’m on another antibiotic to treat this pneumonia. I can honestly say I have never been this sick (for this long).

Fever has managed to stay away for 2 full days now so I feel like a new gal….just a new gal without energy.

Anybody else just want your mama when you are sick? My husbands way of helping was waking the kids up for school one day so I wouldn’t have to….. I still had to drive them….So sweet ….;) ? Then he went out of town. On this day nobody even went to school. I literally slept the entire day. I’m going to assume they ate that day 😉

I decided to talk about being comfortable today. I have spent the last week in nothing but cozy clothes, makeup free, and we won’t even talk about my hair.

I absolutely love yoga pants. Yes, I am one of those. I have attempted yoga twice (in my living room) …but I will wear the pants like I just walked out of class everyday.

On the budget friendly side Target has a pair that I have worn for years. These are so comfortable and have held up really well.

Even better are these from Walmart. I have 2 pair that I wear more than all the others. These have held up so so well. I wash AND dry and they dont shrink at all. I can’t say enough about how cozy and easy these are. If i’m not taking the kids to school in them, i’m sleeping in them (or going to the mall or getting groceries yes..I wear them everywhere). The best part, the price!

On the not so budget friendly side is Zella.

How about comfortable t-shirts? Right now i’m on a favorite graphic tee hunt and I might have found it. This shirt is hands down the softest tee I own. So, so comfortable! Last week while I was doing nothing but laying around  I wore this 2 days in a row….then, I washed and dried it while I was getting a shower and put it right back on. If that isn’t love I don’t know what is. 😉

I like my tee’s having a more generous fit vs a snug fit. So if you like yours the same then I would say it’s true to size (i’m wearing the small). If you like a more fitted look then size down 1 size. Honestly, softest shirt EVER 😉

Ok I know it’s getting warm outside but i’m sticking with my favorite comfortable things AND it’s majorly on sale so I have to share.  I stayed covered up most of last week with this blanket. Since I was running fever I even carried it to bed with me and used it on top of my comforter. We really bonded. We have 3 of these and use them all for couch lounging rather than on our beds. It is an electric blanket which is GREAT for winter but i’m using it now without the added heat.

Just thinking about the possibility of sleeping in a little this weekend puts me in a better mood. I mean, it’s not really going to happen (because it never does)… but I like holding on to hope 😉

Any special Mother’s Day plans?

Our reservation will be at The Melting Pot this year. Ethan will be perfectly happy and content because he loves food almost as much as I do, Caleigh will gag when they put raw meat in front of her, and my husband will only eat 2 of the 18 things on the table. This is my family and I love them to death 😉 It’s going to be great !

I had a dream last night about that chocolate bowl of goodness. They brought out the plate of brownies and cookies and fruit and I just asked for a spoon for my chocolate. There’s a pretty strong chance that’s actually going to happen.

Can I get an Amen ?

The only other thing I would like to ask for is just 1 day with zero fighting out of my kids. I feel like my chances of a clean house are far greater. Actually, winning that Powerball is more likely to happen than getting a fuss free day . I would settle for a 1/2 day.

#3 is my favorite.

This one involved scratches and kicking and lots of screaming. Your kids do this too…..right??

Hey there Monday !

I don’t know why I woke up an hour early this morning… ? I even stayed up late watching House of Cards (are you watching this… c-r-a-z-y)….but I am thankful and perfectly happy with it 🙂 My kids came downstairs to an actual breakfast before school. They were confused and barely touched it…but who cares! I felt like one of those moms that does it all ( for a good 15 minutes )

I have been receiving messages (awesome thank you!) about my makeup routine so I decided today I would lay out exactly what I am using. I rarely use every bit of this at one time unless i’m going to an event or maybe if I have a little extra time while getting ready…then I might throw it all on….might.

From start to finish :

1. Hourglass Primer | Sephora  This is a must if you want your makeup to stay put. I don’t use it everyday….but if I am going to take the time to do a full face of makeup i’m definitely going to use it. Put it on and let it dry for a few minutes then apply your foundation. 
2. Urban DecayNaked Skin Foundation | Sephora  I talked about this on a previous post. I am still just as in love. It only takes a tiny bit and the coverage is wonderful.
3. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | Sephora  Are you using your concealer before or after your foundation? You definitely want to be using it after. If you put it on first you will end up smearing it and just mixing it in with your foundation. Put it on after and then set it with your powder.
4. Dior Skin Nude Air Powder | Sephora  This is a pressed powder but I like to put it on with a brush vs the little pad (? what are those called?) that it comes with. This gives me light matte coverage but its easily build able if you like more.
5. Dior Rosy Glow Awakening Blush | Sephora I recently talked about this one too. Love it ! . It only comes in this one color. It somehow someway gives you the right color for your skin tone. Perfection!
6. Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance (Primer) | Sephora  If you don’t want your eyeshadow to crease or disappear throughout the day definitely use a primer. 
7. Urban Decay Glide on Eye Pencil | Sephora  It has always been difficult for me to find a good eye liner. I’m not coordinated enough for the liquid liner, and some of the pencil types break off while i’m applying. This goes on so smooth and makes it easy. It also comes in 38 colors…I can’t imagine wearing some of them…but there are options 😉
8. Nars Duo Eyeshadow | Sephora  I use a few different eye shadows (at the same time). I love my Nars and it always goes on first. The colors are natural so sometimes I just wear it alone. Unfortunately mine was a special addition and it doesn’t seem to be available anymore. It looks very similar to ‘Kalahari’. 
9. Buxom Dolly’s Wild Side Eyeshadow Palette | Sephora  I have had this one around the longest. So many options of usable colors.
10. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara | Sephora  Clearly whoever came up with this name is lacking in a certain department. It’s a great mascara but come on….  
11. Buxom Lash Waterproof Mascara | Sephora  So yes I use 2 different mascaras for a couple of reasons. The Too Faced until very recently did not come in waterproof and I have to have waterproof. I’m an emotional gal. So I apply the Too Faced then add a coat of the buxom on top and wha-bam..Waterproof 🙂 Another reason I use both is my lashes have thinned out over the last few years. The Too faced puts a whole lot of black on there but I need to separate it. The Buxom brush is perfect for that. It gets to every single lash. I probably won’t even purchase the waterproof now because my little system is working 😉
12. Dior Addict Lip Glow | Sephora  I have talked about this as well. LOVE it and will never stop loving it. Until recently it only came in one color. Remember, Dior’s ‘Glow’ line is made to magically become your perfect shade when you apply. My lips are always dry so I don’t even own actual ‘lipsticks’ and forget about those matte coverage lipsticks and glosses they are making now. You can see every lip line and I all I have to do is look at one and my lips start peeling. Not-for-me. My point, this gives me great color and also moisturizes.
13. Buxom Lip Polish Collection | Sephora  These are good for changing up my color and still giving me fairly good moisture. They are small so I keep a few in my purse. 
14. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector | Sephora  This is something I don’t use all the time (it’s really nice though). Basically it works like a highlighter and reflects light to make you glow..or at least that’s what they say….and I think that’s pretty accurate. I don’t really care for anything shimmer on my face. This has lots, but not like the usual shimmer if that makes any sense? It really does seem to work off the light vs looking like you threw on a bunch of sparkle. The reviews are outstanding and it’s a top seller. It’s a tiny little compact for $38. It only takes a tee-tiny bit so this will last a very long time. 

This looks like I wear a lot of makeup. Do I? Goodness….

Tanning Review

Friday I tried a new self tanner that you guys asked about.

Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self Tanning Oil | Sephora

Honestly, I really like it. I will say I probably put on more than I needed to because I got pretty dark. I should have made before and after photos but for whatever reason it didn’t cross my mind …dumb dumb. I will do better next time 🙂 

The smell. It wasn’t the worst. Usually if it’s the day I have applied (any) tanner my husband knows right when he gets home. He said it wasn’t bad. After my shower the next morning no more stink 😉  I also don’t feel like the shower washes as much off as usual. I will apply again this week and then give you my full review in the next several days.

Have you ever had a bat fly right in front of your face after you hop in the bed? My husband has. By the good graces of our sweet, sweet Lord I had just left the room. It was actually pretty fun watching him come up with creative ways to trap that thing (while I watched from a safe distance)…We do not have a clue how it got into our house. Eeeekk! So that was our excitement for Tuesday evening.

Wednesday wasn’t quite as entertaining. Unfortunately, I spent my evening in the emergency room. My apologies for the missing posts this week!

Have you ever been driving down the road and pull up on a big 5 gallon bucket of freshly spilled paint with no time to stop or go around it? I have! That was my Thursday . I’m just really looking forward to next week. I think it’s going to be better….

Last week I received several questions about different self tanners. A few of you asked about the Argan Oil in particular. I had not tried it, but was totally open to it (have we met?). So, i’m happy to report I can start reviewing it for you today 🙂

Josie Maran- Argan Liquid Gold Self-Tanning Oil –$38 Sephora

The reviews on this are good. It seems the most common (positive) reviews refer to the smell and color. They say the smell is good (doesn’t turn in to that nasty stench), and the color is subtle and something even people on the fair side can use without looking fake.

Its’s offered in 3 different scents.

This comes with an application mitt and I will say of all the mitts I have used, this is the best. Usually they slip around on my hand but this one doesn’t move.

Because this contains oil it definitely glides on more smoothly and allows you to get a more even application. It says you can use this alone, meaning without your moisturizer. I don’t know if that will be the case for me. Remember I have super dry skin so I may end up putting moisturizer on top before the day is over.

A lot of the reviews say it wasn’t drastic like other self-tanners and they felt like they could tell they had it on but others didn’t seem to notice. I feel like this is plenty of color for my first application. Maybe I put on more than I was suppose to? For me, it’s nice.

I also went ahead and purchased the Face Oil -$42 Sephora

This only requires 4-6 drops which you apply with your fingers. They both go on brown so it’s easy to tell where you have applied. This one also says it can be used alone without moisturizer. Not me, I added it on top about 30 minutes after I applied.

Right now, I really like the color and am looking forward to seeing what the lasting power is . It’s obviously much better for my skin (since it’s oil) so hopefully it’s a keeper. I just applied a few hours ago so stay tuned!

***UPDATE*** -Caleigh got in the car after school and said “Why does it smell like coffee in here”….When I picked up Ethan, “Who got Starbucks”……    For reference I purchased Tahitian Vanilla. Maybe you should go with one of the other options 😉

A friend of mine told me about this nail polish and I have to say it’s about as good as I have been able to get. It definitely lasts longer than anything I have tried and it dries so fast.

This is a 3 step system.

Step 1- Primer- $12.50 • Step 2-Color- $12.50 • Step 3-Top Coat- $12.50

Yes, it’s $37.50 to get started but it’s worth it. I do not get my nails done (what little I have) so I really like how professionally done this system makes them look. I love it on my toes too! It’s going to be great not having to worry about chipping during flip flop season.

Do you love your pet as much as I love my dog?  Not-a-chance! The craziest part is she loves me even more than I love her ♥ How can that be?  This picture was going to be about showing off my Stella & Dot necklace  but I ended up focusing on how cute she was and forgot all about the plan. Stuff like this happens all the time.
